Religious Trauma
We have particular experience supporting individuals navigating the complex aftermath of fundamentalist religious groups and other closed communities. Our approach honors both the challenges and gifts that religious backgrounds can bring to one's life journey. We work sensitively with clients from closed or highly structured religious communities who are seeking to understand how their unique spiritual foundations have shaped their present experiences and relationships.
Our therapists bring expertise in exploring religious and spiritual dimensions of identity - whether you are processing religious trauma, examining your relationship with faith, or seeking to integrate your spiritual beliefs with personal growth. We create a space where both the difficulties and meaningful aspects of religious experience can be explored with understanding and care.
At UDP, we also hold a particular interest in helping those who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or gender non-conforming who also identify as spiritual/religious and grew up in religious communities.
